Philip at 5yrs old with his little brother James

Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Philip. Philip’s dad was a pastor, which means he taught people about God. Philip lived in different places as he grew up because his family moved around a lot. Sometimes, they lived in small towns, and other times, they lived in big cities.

When Philip was about eight years old, his dad started to get very sick. Sometimes, Philip’s dad had to go to the hospital because he felt so bad. This made Philip and his family sad and scared. There were times when Philip’s dad would get angry and yell, and sometimes try to hurt people, which made everyone feel upset.

Even though things were hard at home, Philip learned that he could always talk to God. He started praying every day and reading his Bible. Philip went to church a lot and learned more and more about Jesus.

One day, when Philip was a teenager, his mom called him and his four brothers and sisters together. She told them that they didn’t have much food left in the house. Instead of getting worried, Philip’s mom asked them all to pray and trust God to help them.

The next day, after church, Philip and his family came home to find their front porch covered with bags and bags of groceries! Someone had left them there as a gift. Philip was amazed! He knew that God had answered their prayers and taken care of them.

As Philip grew older, he started to feel that God wanted him to tell other people about Jesus. At first, he didn’t want to because he was scared to speak in front of people. But one day, when he was 16, Philip decided to trust God’s plan for his life, even if it meant doing things that scared him.

Philip went to school to learn more about the Bible and how to be a missionary. He also learned how to fly airplanes! While he was in school, he met a kind girl named Lori who also wanted to tell people about Jesus.

Philip and Lori got married and decided to move to Africa to teach people about God’s love. They helped start new churches in cities and small villages. They even opened a home for children who didn’t have parents to take care of them.

In Africa, Philip and Lori faced many challenges. Sometimes they didn’t have enough money, and sometimes people didn’t want to listen to them. But they always remembered to trust God, just like Philip had learned when he was young.

As the years went by, Philip and Lori saw God do amazing things. They helped start a school to teach other people how to be pastors and missionaries. They saw many people learn about Jesus and decide to follow Him. And they made lots of new friends from all over Africa.

Philip learned that no matter what happens in life, good or bad, God is always there to help us. He found out that when we trust God and follow His plan for our lives, amazing things can happen!

Boys and girls, just like Philip, we can trust God to take care of us. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

This means that even when things are hard or scary, we can always talk to God and trust Him to help us. He loves us very much and wants what’s best for us. When we pray and read our Bibles, we learn more about God and how to follow Him.

Remember how God provided food for Philip’s family when they needed it? God can do amazing things in our lives too! Sometimes He might answer our prayers right away, and other times He might have a different plan that we don’t understand yet. But we can always trust that God loves us and is taking care of us.

Just like Philip, we might be afraid to do what God asks us to do. But when we trust God and follow Him, He can use us to help others and do wonderful things. So, let’s remember to pray, read our Bibles, and trust God every day. Who knows what amazing plans God has for your life!
