At Central Africa Baptist University, our core purpose is “Training the next generation of servant-leaders in Africa for Great Commission living.”
But what does that really mean? Why does CABU exist?

Our vision is to see an army of African men and women who are trained to love and serve God across the entire continent. We want to cultivate graduates who are:
- God-centered in their thinking, basing their worldview on biblical truth
- Living lives grounded in the authoritative Word of God
- Ministering in the power of the Holy Spirit
- Focused on serving others selflessly
- Committed to fulfilling the Great Commission through evangelism & discipling others
- Revival-oriented, constantly seeking God in prayer
Ultimately, we aim to prepare servant-leaders who will live for the glory of God and the good of others, governed by Scripture and directed by the Holy Spirit.
Our purpose is not primarily academic, educational, social, or economic. At its core, CABU’s purpose is theological and ministry-focused: Training servant-leaders in Africa for Great Commission living.
What exactly do we mean by servant-leaders?
First, we emphasize training Christian servants. The key is not merely the outward activities of service or the attitude of humility, however important those are. The primary concern is whether individuals are in a right master-servant relationship with their authority—God Himself. The critical question is: Are they submitted to God, His Word, and all God-given authorities in their lives?
Second, we aim to train Christian leaders—individuals who will influence others toward Christ no matter their station or vocation in life. Spiritual leadership is simply influence. Our goal is to prepare men and women to shape those around them in a God-ward direction through their words, conduct, and way of life.
This is the heartbeat of CABU – to raise up a generation of deeply committed servants of Jesus who will impact their churches, communities, and nations for the glory of God’s name among all peoples. We invite you to join us in pursuit of this vision!
