At Central Africa Baptist University, we are a community of God’s called servants, united in our commitment to exercising our gifts for His glory and the good of others. Our mission is reflected in the example of David in Psalm 78 verse 72 – to continually revisit and recommit to these essential priorities that guide us, lest future generations depart from the path and forsake the one true God.

The insidious danger of mission drift is ever-present. Any ministry, no matter how devoted, stands just one generation away from losing its way and being reduced to a powerless institution operating by tradition. It is imperative that we know, embody, and passionately embrace the fundamental principles that have shaped and directed our purpose until now.
CABU PURPOSE STATEMENT:
“Training The Next Generation of Servant-Leaders In Africa For Great Commission Living” involves training the heart and the hands. Education is a tool we use to make disciples of Jesus Christ, men and women who reflect God’s character and nature in their everyday lives and view themselves as servants of God and stewards of God’s manifold grace.
Ps 78:72
70 He chose David, his servant
and took him from the sheepfolds;
71 from following the nursing ewes he brought him
to shepherd Jacob his people,
Israel his inheritance.
72 With upright heart he shepherded them
and guided them with his skillful hand.
CABU VALUES: (Related to the HEART).
The focus is on who we really are on the inside. How will we achieve our purpose?
We call these our “HOWS”.
- Honesty – Being transparent with God and Others.
- Obedience – Doing what I should do, when I should do it, and how I should do it, with the right heart, attitude, and spirit toward the authority asking me to do it.
- Wisdom – Skill, ability, and insight gained from God’s word for the purpose of living a life that honors and glorifies God.
- Service – Investing my life in ministry for the good of others rather than for the pleasure or advancement of self.
CABU OBJECTIVES: (Related to the HANDS)
Developing a heart shaped by the HOWS will result in a life lived for His glory. Any man or woman who commits to the core values of Scriptures will:
- Live Authentically – The result of honesty
- Love Selflessly – The result of obedience to the great command.
- Think Biblically – The result of wisdom, being saturated with God’s Word.
- Serve Humbly – The result of developing a servant’s heart.
Rarely do external forces destroy ministries. Far more often, ministries crumble from within – the good people who have sacrificed so much for the mission of God lose their focus, and their vision becomes blurred. But we must be different at CABU. We must never tire of hearing these truths that have sustained us. Let us bind them to our hearts, allowing them to guide our steps and strengthen our hands as we strive to remain faithful to God’s call upon Central Africa Baptist University. Moreover, we must commit to passing these principles on to the next generation (2 Ti. 2:2), whom God will raise up to serve alongside us in this hallowed work.
